For my capstone project I chose a mixed media artwork. I used drawing and painting methods along with sharpies, newspaper and CD’s. I do like how this turned out but I wish i used more materials such as ribbon or string. I learned that anything could be used in a art piece even if that’s not what ts purpose was for, I also learned how to better plan out my time.I think this artwork fits into my portfolio well because it shows even though I am not the greatest artist I still try and that’s what all my other pieces also say. I had fun making this!!

First i started brainstorming to decide what i will be creating as the actual image of my mixed media artwork project this took about an hour of the 5 hours i was given.

Next i started to gather my materials to have them on hand and figured out before I started sketching out what i decided on. This took around 1 1/2 hours because i had to get and figure out the materials i will be using.

Lastly i started sketching out the butterfly I decided to create fr my capstone project. It took about 2 hours of erasing and redrawing this butterfly until it looked how i wanted it to. Then i outlined the pencil with sharpie to have more defined lines and that took around a half hour. In all all of this took me just about 5 ours and i will post the finished product when it’s done.

This was my final design. I first started out with sketching my deigns and picking and order then i started to decide the colors. I used cool toned colors because i always usually warm toned colors and I wanted to switch it up.I like the way all the designs came together to form one unique project. If I could change something about this I would use more of the light blue and dark blue colors because i feel like they were oddly placed and i could’ve incorporated it better to make it more equal. I like the way I really thought about my craftsmanship throughout the whole design process to make this the best i could.

This is the part of the collage that i drew because i thought it was the most interesting. I used transference by putting a mouth inside a gaming device because thats typically not where you find a mouth.

I created a surreal collage using magazine cutouts i used minification with the cat in the truck, Animation with the light bulb acting a head/face,transference with the city in a picture frame, and metamorphosis with the dog riding a bike. I learned surrealism can be put in place of any object and it relies on creativity. It can be used to create a unique piece of art. I will post the part i drew in a different post.

This is my first post and I’m obviously not an artist but I tried my best. Surreal art is one of my favorite forms of art.
